Good news: Super Priority Service now available for partner and spouse visas

With minimal fanfare, priority visa services have resumed for new marriage and family visa applications. The super priority service is a premium option which allows those willing to pay the additional fee to have their applications processed quicker. Applications lodged via the super priority service are typically processed within 6 weeks of attending a biometric appointment at an overseas UK Visa Application Centre.

The super priority service was suspended in 2022 ostensibly to repurpose Home Office staff to deal with applications from those seeking protection under the various schemes for Ukrainian nationals. This led to a dramatic increase in processing times for even straightforward visa applications.

Prior to its reintroduction for new applications, the Home Office has contacted applicants who lodged via the standard service to offer an optional upgrade to priority service. Unfortunately, the option to upgrade to a faster service is by invitation only.

Applications lodged via the standard non-priority service, continue to take considerably longer to process. Applicants should get a decision within 24 weeks from the date of attendance at the visa application centre biometric appointment.
